Education Assistant - Residential Program - 25 hours per week

HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility)

Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.

Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Academic Interventionist to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Education Assistant will support the head of the education team in all activies related to running the academic program at Havenwyck Hospital. The Education Assistant will also provide support for education team members and students throughout the school day.

Duties and responsibilities, to include; but are not limited to:

  • Participates as an integral member of the education team.
  • Supports and guides students during daily activies.
  • Maintains records as needed.
  • Attends education team meetings as scheduled.
  • Provides academic support based on problems identified in assessments.
  • Effectvely utilizes techniques of classroom bahavior management.
  • Assists with administrative duties as needed.
  • Utilizes the principle of a trauma-informed model.
  • Attends hospital mandatory training/in-services as required.
  • Adheres to hospital policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education, or has an associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution, or has passed the College Board SAT or ETS Parapro Assessment
  • Experience in working with Emotionally Impared and/or Cognitively Impaired children
  • Experience with Special Needs preferred
  • Some clerical or administrative experience preferred
