Job summary

The AmplifyLearn.AI Center at the University of Washington is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Research and Technology Development to lead coordinated efforts in AI in education.

Reporting to the Director, you will guide research studies and technology development, supervise graduate researchers, and collaborate with Colleague AI to advance edtech products and evaluate their impact on teaching and learning in K-12 settings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree + 4 years leading AI/education research projects.
• Strong AI in educational research and causal inference knowledge.
• Experience managing graduate students and data scientists.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, testing, and refinement of AI in education studies.
• Develop validation systems for AI models in education.
• Coordinate project priorities with the Director and core faculty.
• Oversee SEED grant programs and manage budgets/timelines.
• Engage with K-12 institutions, EdTech partners, policymakers, and funders.
• Represent the Center at conferences and public engagements.
