Job summary

AMJ is seeking an enthusiastic Editorial Assistant to create and commission content for our journals. This onsite role in Hallandale Beach, FL supports journal management, content commissioning and the peer review process.

The role requires a Biomedical Science or Life Science degree, excellent writing, and strong communication skills. You will work with the Editorial Board, attend congresses, and help produce diverse content formats.

Qualifications

  • Biomedical Science or Life Science degree required.
  • Excellent writing and strong English language skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; good IT skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; proactive and ambitious.

Responsibilities

  • Manage journal pipelines by ensuring timely processing and publication of content, in-line with the publishing schedule.
  • Use research skills and medical knowledge to assist in commissioning journal content.
  • Write journal & newsletter content, including congress reports, interview questions, and news stories.
  • Oversee the peer review process to help determine the suitability of articles for publication.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with Editorial Board members and other contributors.
  • Attend congresses (physical or virtual) across different clinical areas to ensure appropriate reporting around congress key highlights.
  • Commission and organise webinars and podcasts by working alongside experts in the field, acting as guest liaison.
  • Produce different formats of content by script writing and audio-visual editing.

AMJ is seeking an enthusiastic Editorial Assistant to create and commission content for our journals. This role offers a unique opportunity for those starting or advancing an editorial career within a dynamic organisation. The ideal candidate will have a background in life sciences and a passion for content editing. This is a role with a diverse set of duties, including journal management, content commissioning and peer review.

Key Information
  • Salary: $48,000
  • Location: This role is based onsite in our Hallandale Beach, FL office
  • Working pattern: This role is based onsite, 5 days a week, in our Hallandale Beach, FL office
  • Hours: 8.30am – 5pm, Mon-Fri
  • Reports to: Managing Editor
What You'll Do

  • Biomedical Science or Life Science degree

  • Strong IT Skills – MS (Excel and Word)
