Job summary

Cohen Seglias is seeking an E-Discovery Specialist to support the e-discovery process through all stages of litigation in our Philadelphia office. You will load data, craft efficient searches, and manage litigation databases with input from attorneys, litigation support, and IT departments.

You will collaborate with E-Discovery and litigation teams to provide high-level technical support, ensure data integrity, and develop documentation and best practices for streamlined discovery workflows

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent required.
  • A highly proactive, solution-oriented approach to work and interactions.
  • Strong sense of accountability, including taking ownership of projects and resolving issues proactively.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Technical aptitude and understanding, including ability to quickly learn new applications.

  • 2-5 years legal E-Discovery/Litigation Support experience.

  • Axcelerate experience preferred.

Position Summary

This position is part of the Firm’s E-Discovery team and supports the e-discovery process through all stages of litigation. The specialist works closely with attorneys, litigation support, and the IT department to load relevant data and keep e-discovery projects on track. This role also helps ensure searches are written efficiently, performed correctly, and catalogued accurately. In addition, the position collaborates with the E-Discovery and litigation teams to provide high-level technical support and develop documentation.

This position provides hands-on technical support for document organization and control, including electronic discovery and document productions in a variety of electronic formats. The role manages litigation databases, including their design, creation, and maintenance. It also oversees data acquisition and delivery to vendors, verifies data integrity, imports images, data, and transcripts into databases, and exports data as needed. The specialist corrects vendor errors, reformats and converts data, and designs forms and reports. The role also troubleshoots issues and recommends technical solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Loads data supplied by the lawyers to be used in E-Discovery or other electronic document searches.
  • Manages the E-Discovery search process in conjunction with the legal team.
  • Crafts efficient searches in our E-Discovery products.
  • Performs quality control review of work performed by the legal team to ensure that searches are performed as designed.
  • Attends regular matter project team meetings to discuss status and issues with searches and search parameters.
  • Understands matter timelines and deadlines and can inform legal teams of potential issues that could affect deadlines.
  • Assists attorneys and paralegals with the phases of discovery such as collections, review and production requests.
  • Performs data auditing, processing, loading and quality checks on processing, productions and deliverables including those provided by vendor services.
  • Applies project management techniques to coordinate and track daily project progress from inception through completion. Maintains project documentation, files and data inventory, as needed.
  • Performs data migrations to and from litigation support tools.
  • Performs trial preparation tasks including, but not limited to processing electronic data, loading data into trial presentation software, working with trial presentation vendors, acquiring hardware and mobilizing/demobilizing the courtroom, case team training, and actual trial presentation implementation throughout the duration of a trial or arbitration.
  • Provides one-on-one or case team training and technical support for litigation support applications.
  • Helps develop “Best Practices” guides for streamlining the litigation management process.
