Job description

Ready to take ownership of advanced production equipment and keep quality moving forward?

At Qwikkit, our Edgebander Technician plays a key role in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining our edgebanding line and PUR glue system. You’ll combine hands‑on production experience with mechanical problem‑solving to keep equipment running safely, consistently, and at the expected production rate.

Who Thrives Here:

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy working with production equipment, solving mechanical problems, and taking ownership of results. You balance speed with quality, respond quickly when something is not performing correctly, and enjoy sharing your knowledge to help other operators succeed.

Taking Care of Our Team:
  • Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
  • Eligibility for Qwikkit’s Shared Profit Program.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) plan and paid time off.
  • Company‑paid life insurance.
  • Employee referral program.
  • Employee assistance program.
What We Do:

Qwikkit is transforming apartment cabinet renovations by making the process faster, simpler, and more cost‑effective. Our team combines decades of industry experience with technology, automation, and continuous improvement to deliver quality products to our customers.

Our Edgebanding team applies and finishes edge material on cabinet components. Accurate machine setup, proper glue application, and consistent quality are essential to producing components that meet Qwikkit’s standards and move efficiently through production.

What You Will Learn:
  • How Qwikkit operates and maintains its IMA edgebanding line and PUR glue system.
  • How to adjust machine height, glue temperature, feed settings, and material requirements.
  • How to monitor controls, gauges, tooling, and machine performance.
  • How to recognize glue‑line voids, chip‑out, dull tooling, bond issues, and other defects.
  • How to document throughput, defects, downtime, and production issues.
  • How to coordinate preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
  • How to maintain operating procedures and daily equipment checklists.
  • How to train other operators on safety, quality, and standard work.
  • How edgebanding quality affects downstream production and the finished product.
What Impact You Will Make:

Your technical knowledge and equipment ownership will help keep Qwikkit’s edgebanding operations safe, productive, and consistent. By identifying and correcting equipment, tooling, glue, and quality issues early, you will help prevent defective parts from moving downstream.

You will also improve the team’s performance by maintaining clear operating standards, supporting preventive maintenance, reducing downtime, and helping other operators build their skills.

What You Will Become:

You will strengthen your expertise in production equipment, edgebanding processes, PUR glue systems, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and quality control. You will also develop valuable training and process‑ownership experience as you help establish consistent practices across both edgebanding machines.

As your experience grows, you may have opportunities to expand your technical knowledge and pursue additional production, maintenance, or team‑leadership responsibilities within Qwikkit.

The Exciting Things You’ll Do:
  • Set up and operate edgebanding equipment and the PUR glue system.
  • Adjust bander height, glue temperature, feed settings, and material requirements.
  • Load and feed components while running production at the expected rate.
  • Monitor machine controls, gauges, and indicators throughout the shift.
  • Complete daily operating checklists and first‑part quality inspections.
  • Inspect finished parts for chip‑out, glue‑line voids, bond issues, dull‑tooling indicators, and other defects.
  • Make approved adjustments and take corrective action when performance or quality falls outside established standards.
  • Record defects, throughput, downtime, and reasons production targets are not met.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine operator maintenance.
  • Submit work orders and coordinate preventive maintenance with the Maintenance team.
  • Maintain current SOPs, operating standards, and equipment checklists.
  • Train other operators on safety procedures, quality expectations, and standard work.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area according to 6S expectations.
What You Should Bring:

Must‑haves:

  • Experience operating and maintaining an edgebanding machine.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance and the ability to recognize high‑quality edgebanding output.
  • Ability to operate production equipment at the expected rate for a full shift while maintaining quality.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to set up, monitor, troubleshoot, and adjust equipment.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, use calipers, and perform basic math using different units of measure.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain procedures and train other operators.
  • Ability to stand for a full shift, perform repetitive motions, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Availability to work early or late shifts, weekends, and overtime when required by business needs.
Nice‑to‑haves:
  • Experience with IMA, Biesse, Homag, or Holzher equipment.
  • Experience operating or maintaining a PUR glue system.
  • A two‑year technical degree or related technical education.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish skills.
