Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support care in a fast-paced ED. You will assist with EKGs, IV starts, venipunctures, splinting, CPR, and patient transport, while documenting care and maintaining supplies.

The role requires strong teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to patient safety during urgent and emergent situations. Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 7pm–7:30am, at Mercyhealth facilities in northern Illinois.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CNA program or ABHES/CAAHEP accredited medical assistant program or EMT/Paramedic program.
• Certification as Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant or EMT/Paramedic license as applicable.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as assigned and per routine.
• Performs 12 Lead EKGs.
• Starts IVs and performs venipunctures as directed.
• Assists ED physicians with intubation and resuscitation using the Lucas device.
• Performs CPR and assists with chest tube procedures.
• Transports non-monitored patients to inpatient units.
