Overview:As an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech), you will support the healthcare team in delivering timely, high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced emergency setting. You will assist with clinical procedures, including EKGs, IV starts, venipunctures, splinting, CPR, and patient transport, while maintaining accurate documentation, managing supplies, and ensuring a safe and efficient care environment. This role requires strong teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to exceptional patient care during urgent and emergent situations.Schedule: Three, 12-hour shifts per weekShift: VariesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides patient care as assigned and per routine, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate mannerDocuments care provided according to standardsMaintains a clean work and patient environmentMaintains supplies, stocking new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner. Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff.Directs visitors to patient's rooms. Maintains medical records of current patients. Processes patient charges and orders supplies as needed.Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.Performs 12 Lead EKGs as directedStarts IV as directedPerforms venipunctures as directedAssists ED MDs with intubation by gathering needed equipmentPerforms CPR and places the Lucas on patients during resuscitationsPerforms splint applicationsAssist with chest tube insertions by gathering needed supplies equipmentPerforms BGMs as directedTransports non-monitored patients to the inpatient unitsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCECompletion of a CNA programorGraduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a postsecondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of EducationorGraduate of an Emergency Medical Technician program orGraduate of a Paramedic program.CERTIFICATION/LICENSURECertified as a Nursing Assistant in applicable state, orCertified as a Medical Assistant through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or RMA certification through the AMT (American Medical Technologists) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant through NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or RMA through AAH (American Allied Health) or NCMA Certification through the NCCT that have also completed the education requirements.orLicensed as an EMT-B or EMT-A in applicable state, orLicensed as a Paramedic in applicable state.Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 daysOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESN/ALEVEL OF SUPERVISIONN/APAY RANGE:$17.57 - $25.48Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
