Job summary

Lewiston Public Schools in Lewiston, Maine seeks an Education Technician to assist a Special Education Teacher in delivering services outlined in students' IEP and PBSP within RISE/Day Treatment programs.

The role supports 1:1, 1:2 and small group instruction, data collection, materials preparation, and adherence to IEPs/PBSPs while maintaining safety and professional communication in a dynamic school setting.

Qualifications

• Three years postsecondary education and/or 90 credit hours in a related area.
• Education Technician III certification required by Maine DOE.
• School Based Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate 1:1, 1:2 and small group instruction while meeting complex learners' needs.
• Implement and follow IEP and PBSP, including de-escalation strategies.
• Assist with setup of classroom, student areas and prep of materials for specialized instruction.
• Collect relevant data and enter data.
• Assist in assembling/hanging materials and keeping displays current as requested.
• Operate standard school equipment such as computer, laminator, copier, audiovisual equipment.
• Follow the day-to-day schedule of students.
• Maintain constant supervision in direct services and ensure safety and appropriate behavior.

Education

90 credit hours or 3 years postsecondary education

Education Technician III certification

BHP certification (School Based Behavioral Health Professional)
