Job summary

Biddeford Primary School in Biddeford, ME seeks an experienced Education Technician specialized in Special Education to support classroom teachers and students.

Certification as an Education Technician with CHRC on file with the Maine Department of Education is required; prior classroom experience is preferred. Compensation ranges from $21.70 to $32.67 per hour under the collective bargaining agreement.

  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) on file with Maine Department of Education.

  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher and assist in drill and practice activities.
  • Participate in required workshops by request of Building Leader, Supervisor, or Director.
  • Perform non-instructional, non-evaluating functions including suspension of students.
  • Assist in preparation of instructional materials or provide classroom management during drills, assemblies, or other activities.
  • Alert teacher to any problem or special information about a student.

Brief Job Duties
  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher and assist in drill and practice activities.
  • Participate in required workshops by request of Building Leader, Supervisor, or Director.
  • Perform non-instructional, non-evaluating functions including suspension of students.
  • Assist in preparation of instructional materials or provide classroom management functions during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, etc.
  • Alert teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
Certification / License
  • Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) which includes fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education
Education
  • Appropriate for Ed Technician Certification Level
Experience
  • Successful prior classroom experience or working with students with special needs for the appropriate grade levels is preferred, but not required.

Compensation
  • Based on position, education level, experience, and per the collective bargaining agreement
