Job summary

Biddeford Middle School seeks an Education Technician II (Special Education) to support learning under the supervision of teachers. The role involves reinforcing classroom material, assisting with drills, and managing classroom activities during emergencies.

Applicants should have Maine Education Technician certification, be prepared for background checks, and participate in workshops. Compensation is based on position, education, and experience, with a wage range of $21.70–$32.67 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Prior classroom experience or working with students with special needs preferred.
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) with fingerprints on file with Maine Department of Education.
  • Education Technician Certification required by Maine DOE.

  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher and assist in drill and practice activities.
  • Participate in required workshops by request of Building Leader, Supervisor, or Director.
  • Perform non-instructional, non-evaluating functions including suspension of students.
  • Assist in preparation of instructional materials or provide classroom management functions during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, etc.
  • Alerts teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.

  • Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education
  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education
Education:

Appropriate for Ed Technician Certification Level

Experience:

Successful prior classroom experience or working with stduent with specail needs for the appropriate grade levels is preferred, but not required.

Compensation:

Based on position, education level, experience, and per the collective bargaining agreement

Range: $21.70 - $32.67 per hour
