Job summary

Sentara Independence is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support ED physicians, nurses, and staff during weekend days on a 36-hour FT schedule (Fri–Sun, 7a–7p). You will assist in procedures, monitor patients, and help maintain supplies in a fast-paced ED environment.

Qualifications include HS Diploma or Equivalent and EMT-B certification at hire (or equivalent military hospital corps training) or active clinical studies. Retention of past Sentara ED tech experience is considered.

Qualifications

• EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School OR current students enrolled in a clinical program.
• Candidates with prior Sentara ED tech experience in the past two years will be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.
• HS Diploma or Equivalent is required to start.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians, advanced practitioners, or nurses in implementing plans of care for ED patients.
• Performs patient procedures and treatments under supervision.
• Starting IVs, EKGs, and Point of Care testing.
• Collects Blood Cultures and monitors Vital Signs.
• Prioritizes arrivals and participates in stocking and supply management.
