Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an ED support team member to assist with patient care in a fast-paced emergency department. You will collaborate with ED physicians, nurses and support staff to monitor patients, obtain vitals, and assist with procedures and transport.

Required CPR and ACLS, with preferred TECC, PALS, and license credentials. The role involves varied shifts, 12.5 hours, and EMS-related responsibilities in a high-demand environment.

Qualifications

• Certified in CPR-Basic Rescue by either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
• Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association.
• TECC training is preferred.
• PALS certification is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
• EKG certification is preferred.
• Paramedic/EMT license (current or expired) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works in a collaborative fashion as part of the ED care team, including ED physicians, PCAs, Unit Secretaries, and RN staff.
• Monitors patients for acute changes and communicates changes to the primary nurse or physician.
• Assists with procedures and patient care activities per ED policy.
• Establishes and maintains peripheral IV access.
• Obtains medical history and checks vital signs, informing physicians of observations.
• Provides support around Ambulance Triage and ED waiting room triage.
• Transports patients throughout the hospital and assists with patient transfers.
