Job summary

East Alabama Medical Center is seeking an experienced ED nurse to provide comprehensive care in a fast-paced environment. The role emphasizes safe, holistic nursing practice, adherence to care pathways, and patient education to improve outcomes.

Requirements include an RN with an Associate degree (Bachelor preferred) and 2 years of recent ED experience, plus Alabama nursing licensure and required ACLS/BLS/PALS/TNCC/NIHSS certifications within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2 years recent ED experience.
• Alabama Board of Nursing License is required; ACLS/BLS/PALS/TNCC/NIHSS certifications within the stated timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe therapeutic care incorporating standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.
• Administer medications in accordance with standard nursing practice.
• Educate patients and families to support informed care and improved outcomes.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education

• Associate degree in nursing or equivalent

Minimum Experience

• 2 years recent ED experience

Required Registration/License/Certification

• Alabama Board of Nursing License
• ACLS must be obtained within 1 year of hire date
• BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire date
• PALS within 1 year of hire date (if required in work area)
• TNCC within 90 days of hire/transfer
• NIHSS w/in 90 days of hire/transfer (EAH to assist with certification completion)

Preferred Education

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field

Preferred Experience

• Recent acute care hospital and/or previous nursing practice experience preferred
• ED Triage experience
