Job summary

East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, seeks an RN for the Critical Care & Stepdown Float Pool to deliver safe therapeutic care across ICU and stepdown units. You will follow standards and protocols while collaborating with the care team and educating patients and families.

The role offers shift differentials for nights and weekends. Candidates must have an ADN, 2 years ICU experience, and an Alabama nursing license with required certifications; BSN and CCRN/PCCN are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate degree in nursing; BLS/ACLS/PALS and NIHSS within specified timelines.
• Minimum ICU experience of 2 years in a critical care setting.
• Alabama Board of Nursing license required; ACLS, BLS, PALS must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer; NIHSS to be completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe therapeutic care in ICU/stepdown settings.
• Administer medications according to nursing standards and protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet patient and family needs.

• POSITION SUMMARY

  Provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way. Incorporates differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum to include patient and family education. Utilizes standards, guidelines, protocols, or pathways for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance outcomes. Administers Medications according to standard nursing practice. Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development.

  Shift Differential: $6.00

  Nights: $3.00

  Weekends: $2.00

• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Education

    Associate degree in nursing or equivalent

  • Minimum Experience

    2 years of recent ICU experience

  • Required Registration/License/Certification

    Alabama Board of Nursing License ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer date BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire date PALS within 90 days of hire or transfer date NIHSS w/in 90 days of hire/transfer (EAH to assist with certification completion)

  • Preferred Education

    Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field

  • Preferred Experience

    Prefer 5 years of Critical Care experience

  • Preferred Registration/License/Certification

    CCRN or PCCN within 2 years of DOH or transfer
