Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, MN is seeking a full-time Emergency Services Technician (0.75 FTE) to support ER operations. You will coordinate with radiology, lab, and patient transport, and enter verbal orders into Epic under a provider's direction, while scribes during trauma and supporting non-nursing tasks with nurses.

Preferred candidates have a health unit coordinator or medical secretary background, or hospital/clinic experience, plus a HS diploma or higher.

Qualifications

• Completion of a health unit coordinator program or medical secretary program.
• 1 year experience or training in a hospital or clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates flow with radiology, laboratory, and patient transport in ER.
• Enters verbal orders into Epic under provider direction and scribes during trauma.
• Supports non-nursing functions in collaboration with nurses.
• Documents in Epic all requests for Hospitalists through Stat Doc and other physicians through Med Direct.
• Answers call lights and coordinates with nursing staff to meet patient needs.
• Monitors security cameras and responds to access requests into the ED.
• Requisitions supplies, equipment, and services as directed.
