Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, MN seeks a Health Unit Coordinator to support the radiology department with clerical and front-desk tasks. The role focuses on improving workflow, unit productivity, and patient service for patients, families, visitors and staff.

Preferred candidates have training in health unit coordination or medical secretary roles, or equivalently one year of hospital/clinic experience. No formal education is required beyond the programs or experience.

Qualifications

• This position performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling; may observe telemetry monitor when indicated notifying patient’s caregiver of any changes; and other duties as assigned.
• Preferred candidates will have experience or training in a hospital or clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement the non-nursing functions on assigned unit(s) to facilitate workflow and unit productivity.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Perform clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services; assist with scheduling.
• May be assigned to observe telemetry monitor and notify caregiver of any changes.
• Other duties as assigned.
