Job summary

UAB Medicine seeks an experienced RN leader for the Emergency Department on the Full-Time Night Shift at UAB St. Vincent's Blount in Alabama. You will coordinate unit staffing, oversee staff performance, and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include directing and educating staff, distributing care assignments, and addressing patient care issues within established channels. Applicable for nurses pursuing leadership in a busy ED environment.

Qualifications

• RN license in Alabama required.
• BLS within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS may be required within 6 months of hire.
• Diploma from accredited nursing program; 1 year of cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign, direct, educate and monitor nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Contribute to or perform performance evaluations of staff.
• Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring population-appropriate care.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify issues affecting outcomes.
• Respond to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels.
• May provide input for hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating staff.
