Job summary

General Motors is seeking a reflash solutions engineer for the Warren Tech Center to design, build, and deploy ECU flashing tooling across GM production sites.

You will own end-to-end development from bench to plant, collaborating with manufacturing and software teams, and travel up to 50% to support deployments. The role aims to reduce vehicle holds, improve quality, and accelerate reflash processes in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with ECUs, embedded systems, or in-vehicle software programming/flashing.
• Experience with hardware/software tools for ECU communication, diagnostics, or reprogramming.
• Strong understanding of automotive communications protocols (CAN, CAN FD, Ethernet).
• Experience using vehicle diagnostic and calibration tools like NeoVI, vSPY, DPS.
• Experience developing ECU reflash or software deployment workflows.
• Knowledge of manufacturing/EOL processes including software flashing and validation.
• Ability to troubleshoot software, hardware, and network interactions in production environments.
• Collaboration across software, electrical, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build hardware and software tooling to support programming of multiple ECUs.
• Execute ECU flashing activities across GM manufacturing sites.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to improve reflash processes.
• Develop and deliver training and create clear, standardized documentation.
• Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Foster a forward-thinking culture addressing future organizational challenges.
• Build and maintain relationships across software, manufacturing, and program management teams.
