Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle seeks a Manager III, Software Development to lead an engineering team within the Elastic Container Service (ECS) organization. You will own day-to-day technical execution and drive high-quality software delivery.

Guide 6–10 software engineers, develop their skills, and coordinate with Principal Engineers, TPMs, and Product Managers to translate customer needs into measurable milestones.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with end-to-end software delivery and live-site operations.
• Experience recruiting for software talent.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of ECS features and service improvements.
• Define quarterly and annual team-level goals aligned to ECS roadmap.
• Hire, develop, and retain engineers in Seattle across levels.
• Provide regular feedback and manage career growth of direct reports.
• Collaborate with Principal Engineers and architects to meet AWS standards.
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, and post-incident analysis participation.
• Maintain operational health including on-call rotations and incident response.
• Represent team in sprint planning and roadmap discussions.
• Coordinate with Vancouver and East Coast teams on cross-site initiatives.
• Identify blockers and improve team velocity and delivery quality.
