The Louisiana Department of Health is seeking an Economic Stability Consultant to guide SNAP policies, interpret federal/state requirements, and strengthen program integrity for Louisiana residents. Qualifications

  • Six years of economic stability social services experience; OR six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of economic stability social services experience; OR a bachelor's degree plus three years of economic stability social services experience; OR an advanced degree in a social sciences field, business, public, or health administration plus two years of economic stability social services experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides programmatic and regulatory guidance and technical assistance to staff regarding SNAP policies, procedures, eligibility requirements, and program operations.
  • Researches, interprets, and communicates federal regulations and state policies to ensure consistent and compliant SNAP administration.
  • Monitors program implementation, staff performance, and program integrity to identify trends, problem areas, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conducts case validation reviews, analyzes findings, and recommends corrective actions to reduce errors and minimize the risk of fiscal sanctions or loss of federal funding.
  • Researches and resolves complex and non-routine program, eligibility, and computer system issues, coordinating with program and field staff as needed.
  • Participates in federal program reviews, special projects, workgroups, system enhancements, and user acceptance testing to support effective SNAP operations.
  • Identifies training needs and develops or provides guidance and training based on policy changes, program needs, review findings, and identified performance issues.

As an Economic Stability Consultant, you’ll provide expert program guidance, interpret federal and state requirements, strengthen program integrity, and help resolve complex issues that affect the delivery of critical nutrition assistance. Join a team dedicated to improving program performance, reducing errors, and ensuring SNAP benefits are administered accurately, effectively, and in compliance with federal and state standards.

Please note: Applicants must clearly describe their experience with specific Economic Stability, Medicaid programs, etc. and/or identify the section or unit in which they performed economic stability social services work (e.g., SNAP/Economic Stability, Child Care Assistance Program, Strategies to Empower People, Family Independence Temp Assistance, Medicare/Medicaid, etc.) within their job duties.   • Six years of economic stability social services experience; OR
  • Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of economic stability social services experience; OR
  • A bachelor's degree plus three years of economic stability social services experience; OR
  • An advanced degree in a social sciences field, business, public, or health administration plus two years of economic stability social services experience.
  • EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
