Job summary

Louisiana Department of Health is seeking a Medical Certification Specialist 1/2 to oversee the Community Choices and ADHC Waiver programs within Regional Waiver Operations. You will monitor operations, provide guidance, and coordinate LOC determinations and MDS process support.

We invite qualified candidates with health regulatory or social services background. Office location is East Baton Rouge Parish; appointment may be probationary, with growth opportunities within the Medical Certification

  • Experience with Home and Community Based Services (HCBS).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee administration and delivery of the Community Choices Waiver (CCW) and ADHC Waiver programs within Regional Waiver Operations.
  • Monitor regional waiver operations to ensure services are delivered efficiently and in accordance with program rules.
  • Provide programmatic oversight, technical assistance, training, and guidance to regional staff and waiver stakeholders to support quality service delivery.
  • Review and coordinate Nursing Facility LOC determinations for Nursing Facility Continued Stay Requests and My Choice Louisiana participants.
  • Serve as Local Contact Agency for MDS 3.0 Section Q process by coordinating referrals and connecting individuals with resources.
  • Monitor SCAs to evaluate service quality, compliance, and effectiveness in meeting participant needs.
  • Provide technical assistance to Direct Service Providers and SCAs and identify opportunities to improve operations and services.

This position may be filled in the following parish(es): EAST BATON ROUGE

  • A current Louisiana license in a health services field, health regulation field, or social services field plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR
  • A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR
  • A master's degree in a health services field, health regulation field, or a social services field plus one year of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services.

Job Duties

  • Monitors regional waiver operations to ensure services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with program rules and requirements.
  • Provides programmatic oversight, technical assistance, training, and guidance to regional staff and waiver stakeholders to support quality service delivery.
  • Reviews and coordinates Nursing Facility Level of Care (LOC) determinations for Nursing Facility Continued Stay Requests and participants in the My Choice Louisiana program.
  • Serves as the Local Contact Agency for the MDS 3.0 Section Q process by coordinating referrals, assessing eligibility, facilitating waiver offers, and connecting individuals with community resources.
  • Monitors Support Coordination Agencies (SCAs) to evaluate service quality, program compliance, and effectiveness in meeting participant needs.
  • Provides technical assistance and support to Direct Service Providers (DSPs) and Support Coordination Agencies (SCAs) and identifies opportunities to improve program operations and participant services.
