Job summary

Mecklenburg County is seeking an Economic Benefits Technician to provide frontline support for case management within the Economic Services Division. The role handles intake, data entry, and customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person at the Catherine M. Wilson Center in Charlotte, NC.

This is an in-office, non-exempt position with a 8:00 am–5:00 pm schedule. The role requires at least two years of customer service experience or CPCC Caseworker Training, a high school diploma, and a valid

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of customer service experience or completion of CPCC Caseworker Training Program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • May require a valid NC or SC driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Assist call center or walk-in contacts, interview customers, gather information, and input data into appropriate systems.
  • Process applications for basic benefits.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding services, documentation, and status of programs.
  • Perform data entry and maintain client and program files.
  • Assist with enrollment and eligibility activities as needed; may staff shelters during disasters.
