Job summary

Biohabitats seeks an ecologically focused Water Resources Engineer to join our Northeast Highlands & Coastal Bioregion in Middletown, CT. You will contribute to planning, design, and construction drawings for wetland restoration, climate resilience, and living shorelines, collaborating with scientists, landscape architects, and engineers.

Prerequisites include 6–10 years of relevant experience, a 4-year degree (PE preferred or to obtain licensure within six months), and proficiency in AutoCAD,

Qualifications

  • Applied design experience related to stormwater management and restoration projects.
  • Understanding and applied experience supporting design projects from concept to construction drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge and experience using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling programs (e.g., TR-55/TR-20, HEC-RAS, SWMM, Delft3D, MIKE21).
  • Restoration construction oversight experience.
  • Ability to support or lead field assessments under various weather and site conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, design, and design-build projects (wetland restoration, climate resilience, living shorelines).
  • Prepare design drawings, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Provide construction phase services (bid support, site observation).
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Conduct natural resources and watershed inventories and field assessments.
  • Support Northeast Highlands and Coastal Bioregion business development, including proposals.
