Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking an Ecological Restoration Project Engineer I to support design and project delivery for stream, wetland, and habitat restoration projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. The role involves interpreting requirements, preparing design documents, and coordinating tasks with supervision.

The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years in ecological restoration, ABET‑accredited engineering training, and proficiency with MicroStation ORD or AutoCAD Civil 3D, plus strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering or related field from ABET accredited program.
• 5–10 years’ experience in ecological restoration/mitigation projects.
• Proficient in MicroStation ORD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Written and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, analyze, and design stream, wetland, and ecological restoration projects.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis using Hec-Ras or similar.
• Analyze survey data, maps, plans, imagery to support design.
• Coordinate with internal project teams to meet quality standards and schedules.
• Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates; assist permitting documents.
• Support marketing and proposals for environmental services.
