Job summary

Straughan Environmental, Inc. seeks a Mid-Level Coastal / Water Resources Engineer to support NbS and resilience design.

You will contribute to planning, design, and permitting for living shorelines, coastal wetlands, and green infrastructure, collaborating with ecologists, planners, GIS, and clients. You have 5+ years in water resources or coastal engineering, strong communication skills, and proficiency with AutoCAD/MicroStation and HEC-RAS/SWMM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Coastal, or Water Resources Engineering or related field.
• Experience with coastal engineering, water resources, and resilience planning.
• Familiarity with NbS, green infrastructure, or ecosystem-based design approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead tasks or components of projects focused on nature-based and hybrid infrastructure solutions.
• Support project managers with planning, budgeting, and execution of coastal and water resources projects.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, coastal/storm surge models).
• Design living shorelines, coastal wetlands, floodplain restoration, and green infrastructure.
• Coordinate with ecologists, planners, GIS specialists, and stakeholders.
• Support environmental permitting at local, state, and federal levels.
