Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville is seeking an ECMO Specialist to operate the ECMO program daily under the ECMO Coordinator. You will monitor and troubleshoot the ECMO circuit, ensure circuit function and patient perfusion, and administer medications and blood products as ordered.

You will collaborate with bedside nurses, participate in transport missions, and support quality improvement initiatives while maintaining safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or accredited RN program with Florida licensure.
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience.
• Preferred 1 year ECMO experience with Primer training.
• Must obtain/maintain BLS, PALS, and ACLS within 6 weeks of hire.
• Florida RRT licensure or Florida RN licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the ECMO circuit and related equipment daily.
• Ensure ECMO circuit function, perfusion, and acid-base/hemodynamic stability per orders.
• Administer blood products and medications safely for neonatal to geriatric patients.
• Collaborate with bedside nurses and participate in ECMO-related transports as needed.
• Support quality improvement and safety initiatives and assist other departments as needed.
