Job summary

UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking an ECMO Specialist under Respiratory Therapy management to monitor and troubleshoot ECMO circuits and related equipment during treatment, coordinating with bedside RNs, physicians and the health care team to care for highly complex patients. The role is full-time, onsite with a night shift and 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering age- and culture-specific care, continuum of care planning, patient and family teaching,

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or Nursing.
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist (N.C.) or RN with NC license.
  • Two years of experience as RN or Respiratory Therapist.
  • Knowledge of ECMO and critical care required.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and managing care per department standards for ECMO patients.
  • Coordinate continuum of care with multidisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients and families about care plans.
  • Identify problems and participate in solving them.
  • Communicate important information across care levels and manage conflicts.
  • Engage in continuous learning and quality improvement.
