Job summary

UNC Health Rex in Raleigh, NC seeks a highly skilled Clinical Perfusionist to provide circulatory support for open-heart surgery and long-term support such as ECMO and ventricular assist devices. The role requires on-call coverage, a strong command of perfusion technology, and independent work under supervision of the Chief Perfusionist.

Responsibilities include equipment management, quality improvement, staff training, and meticulous documentation of perfusion cases.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of Perfusion Technology.
• Certified Perfusionist or eligible to be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
• BLS certification and North Carolina Perfusion License required (or provisional).
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during open-heart surgery to maintain patient temperatures and pressures.
• Clean and service equipment and address malfunctions.
• Support continuous quality improvement focusing on outcomes and costs.
• Provide training to patients and staff on ancillary equipment.
• Review patient history and catheterization data to determine circuit requirements.
• Set up and dispose of cell saver supplies per perfusion manual.
