Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking an Echocardiography Technician to perform and assist with a range of echocardiographic studies at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT. The role reports to the manager of Non-Invasive Cardiology Services and focuses on high-quality diagnostic imaging.

The position requires knowledge of standard transthoracic imaging, TEE, and advanced imaging modalities including 3D and strain imaging.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved cardiovascular program.
• Associates Degree in Health Care.
• CPR Certification required.
• One to two years previous echo experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Experience with two-dimensional, m-mode, Doppler, TEE and stress echo preferred.
• Familiarity with 3D and strain imaging preferred.
• Registered RDCS/CCI or eligible for registration.

Responsibilities

• Performs and assists with a variety of echocardiographic tests and related duties under limited supervision.
• Produce echocardiograms meeting laboratory protocols for transthoracic imaging and special conditions including valvular disease, 3D Echo and strain imaging.
• Participate in routine procedures including transesophageal echo and structural heart disease cases.
• Identify studies for appropriateness; recognize true emergencies and utilize contrast when indicated.
• Work with LVAD/RVAD, Impella pumps, and ECMO as needed.

Job Summary

Performs and assists with a variety of echocardiographic tests and other related duties, working under limited supervision to ensure high quality diagnostic studies. Reports to the manager of Non-Invasive Cardiology Services.

Produce echocardiograms that satisfy the laboratory protocols for standard transthoracic imaging and for special conditions including valvular heart disease, 3D echocardiography and strain imaging.

Participates fully in all the routine procedures within the laboratory, including transesophageal echo, and structural heart disease cases.

Identify studies which require vetting for appropriateness. When present, recognizes true cardiac emergencies, including cardiac tamponade, aortic dissection, and acute valvular regurgitation. Uses contrast for appropriate indications.

Has facility with a full variety of special indications, including patients with ventricular assist devices (LVAD and RVAD), Impella pumps, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
