Job summary

Methodist Hospital Stone Oak, part of Methodist Healthcare System, is seeking an Echo/Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist to perform physician-ordered cardiac exams including 2-D/M‑mode echocardiography, TEEs, carotid imaging, and stress tests. The role requires ARDMS/RCS eligibility and a solid foundation in non-invasive cardiac imaging.

Qualifications

• Requires ARDMS/ARDMS eligibility and registry status for cardiac imaging.
• Clinical ultrasound/vascular experience or formal education in diagnostic sonography is required.
• Must be able to perform 2‑D/3‑D imaging, TEEs, carotid imaging and stress echo as per protocol.

Responsibilities

• Acquire signed physician orders and prioritize STAT exams.
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper cleaning, storage, and preventive maintenance.
• Perform echocardiograms including 2-D, M‑mode, color Doppler and stress imaging.
• Set up TEEs, assist cardiologist with probe insertion and disinfect probes after use.
• Prepare patients for tilt-table testing and manage monitoring and blood draws as needed.
• Obtain carotid images and measurements for complete evaluation of both sides.
• Maintain patient reports, pull prior studies, and document charges accurately.
• Adhere to safety policies and departmental procedures; participate in disaster recovery and PACS support.

Education

Associate degree / two year patient-care allied health education program (diagnostic medical sonography, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapy, physical therapy, RN program)

Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited diagnostic medical sonography or diagnostic cardiac sonography program

Bachelor’s degree with ultrasound/vascular experience (6 months)

Bachelor’s degree in sonography or vascular technology

Current Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or ARDMS eligibility

High school diploma / GED plus 2 years ultrasound experience

Graduate of a non-accredited cardiac sonography program with specialty training (800 hours)
