Qualifications

• Must have at least one of the following educational options: Associate's degree; 48 college credits; ability to pass WorkKeys and complete 96 hours of in-service training; completion of the NC DOL Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
• One year working with EC children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums.
• Assist with checking materials, portfolios, and testing as directed by the teacher.
• Collect data to document individual student progress toward IEP goals.
• Prepare lesson materials and displays for the classroom.
• Participate in daily bus, car, and van transportation duties.
• Provide physical assistance as needed to students and during therapy or mainstreaming activities.
