Job summary

PowerSchool is seeking an Exceptional Children Extensions Teacher Assistant to support EC students under the supervision of the assigned teacher. The role emphasizes assisting with IEP goals and facilitating access to general education.

Responsibilities include classroom supervision, data collection, material preparation, and collaboration with the EC team to ensure individualized instruction and student progress within the Mecklenburg County Schools framework.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 48 college credits required.
• Ability to pass WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training.
• Completion of NC Department of Labor Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
• One year working with EC children preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums.
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
• Coordinate duties with classroom teacher to support instructional efforts.
• Prepare lesson materials and classroom displays.
• Provide physical assistance and monitoring for students as needed.
• Collect data to document student progress toward IEP goals.
• Assist with attendance procedures and record keeping.
