Job summary

Facing History & Ourselves in New York supports educators and students through an evidence-based program that fights bigotry. We seek a Sr. Director of Development, East, to lead regional fundraising, manage a regional team, and drive revenue growth across donors and foundations.

You will oversee multi-state strategies, collaborate with boards, and report to the Executive Director, East. Hybrid work in NYC is preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in nonprofit development with revenue growth responsibility.
• 5+ years of team leadership and management experience.
• Experience coordinating fundraising across multiple markets and functions.
• Track record of cultivating and closing six-figure gifts and major gifts.
• Strong collaboration with boards, volunteers, and senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own design and execution of East region development plan aligned with strategy and revenue goals.
• Lead integrated development across states and philanthropic markets.
• Drive performance across giving, events, donor engagement and operations.
• Establish forecasting, portfolio management, and regular progress reporting.
• Translate national campaigns into effective regional actions.
• Use data to evaluate results and allocate team capacity to maximize revenue.
• Lead a five-member team and manage senior gift officers and donor experiences staff.
• Partner with grant writer to deliver proposals and reports.
• Develop staff as fundraisers and nurture donor relationships.
• Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
