Job summary

Sage, a from-scratch cafe in downtown Columbia, is seeking an experienced Baker to join our kitchen team and help produce the baked goods and pastries our guests enjoy each week.

This is a hands-on production role for someone who understands the rhythm of a professional kitchen, works efficiently and consistently, and takes pride in the details. Early-morning shifts around 5:00 a.m. and weekend availability are required.

Qualifications

• Professional or production baking experience.
• Laminate doughs experience strongly preferred.
• Solid baking techniques, measurements, timing and food safety.
• Able to work efficiently with consistency and attention to detail.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently when needed.
• Collaborative attitude to support Sage team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake pastries and other baked goods according to Sage recipes and standards
• Mix, shape, proof, score, bake, and finish products with consistency and attention to detail
• Work efficiently through daily production and prep lists to ensure products are ready for service
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation
• Properly label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and finished products
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Care for baking equipment and help keep the kitchen clean and ready for production
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and cafe teams and pitch in where needed
