Job summary

Au Bon Pain in Baltimore is seeking a Baker to contribute to high‑quality pastries and bread for the café. The role requires starting between 3:00 am and 4:00 am, working in a self-directed, detail‑oriented team that takes pride in sanitary, fast, and friendly service.

You will measure ingredients, monitor ovens, display finished goods, and assist with inventory. Training for new bakers and collaboration with café teams are essential parts of the job.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Measure and mix ingredients to produce bakery products following precise café standards.
• Ensure correct quantities of baked goods are produced daily and assist in planning production schedules.
• Maintain baking environment by monitoring oven temperatures and baking times and evaluating product against standards.
• Visually merchandise and display all products.
• Receive and store inventory and prepare for baking to ensure consistency of product.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and sanitized at all times.
• Demonstrate hospitality and a friendly attitude toward guests and team members.
• Resolve problems and communicate issues to management as they arise.
• Provide on‑the‑job training for new bakers as needed.
• Assist in café setup and maintenance of coffee/tea/oatmeal and soup stations as needed.
• Other related responsibilities as assigned.
