Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock/warehouse associate to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers. You will operate forklift and pallet jack, verify freight details, secure loads, and assist customers with freight documentation.

The role requires adherence to safety rules, accurate reporting, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Starting rate of pay is $21.78 per hour with variable shift times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using equipment such as forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description and weight.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup or repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and related documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
