Job summary

Ymca-of-Southwest-Florid is seeking a Support Staff Person to assist the classroom teacher in our Early Learning Centers. The role focuses on providing instruction support, supervision, and developmentally appropriate activities for enrolled children.

Under the direction of the classroom teacher, you will help deliver learning experiences, maintain safety and cleanliness, and support parent involvement and volunteer training as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and one year experience in general office practices.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
• A deep love for children, respect for parents, collaboration with staff, enthusiasm in work.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Employment contingent upon Level 2 Florida background screening.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in the classroom.
• Assists with snack and lunch procedures.
• Provides learning experiences that advance development.
• Supports individual children as needed.
• Promotes positive guidance with children.
• Maintains child-adult ratios in the classroom.
• Supervises lunch and helps with washing hands.
