Job summary

YMCA in Venice, FL is seeking a Support Staff Person to assist the classroom teacher in delivering learning activities and supervising enrolled children in our Early Learning Centers. You will help with meal procedures, maintain safety, and support individual children under guidance, while engaging with parents and volunteers to create a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
• Deep love for children, respect for parents, and collaboration with staff.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Background screening as required by Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Assists the classroom teacher in instructional activities and supervision.
• Assists with snack and lunch procedures per class schedule.
• Provides learning experiences to promote children's development.
• Supports individual children as needed.
• Demonstrates positive guidance and respectful interactions with children.
• Maintains child-adult ratios during lunch breaks and afternoon prep.
• Supervises lunch and assists with handwashing and preparation for meals.
• Sanitizes tables, cleans chairs, sweeps floors, and cleans general areas as directed.
• Helps train and welcome volunteers and fosters parent communication.
• Reports health and safety risks to leadership staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
