Job summary

Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) is seeking a diligent Teacher Assistant to support early childhood education within one of its Head Start programs in Oregon. You will help implement a balanced schedule, supervise children during meals, play, and transitions, and support teachers with record-keeping and safety practices.

The role involves diapering and toileting assistance, playground supervision, and helping with bus and parent handoffs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of experience with young children.
• Ability to perform diapering, toileting, and basic caregiving tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing a balanced program of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities.
• Provide a healthy, safe environment with supervision of children.
• Assist teacher with record-keeping and classroom tasks.
• Supervise playground activities and transitions (meals, story time, etc.).
• Assist with toileting, diapering, and preparation for bus/home departures.
• Perform light custodial duties (cleaning, organizing supplies).
• Communicate positively with staff, families, and children; attend meetings as required.
• Support understanding of Head Start mission and services.
