Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking an Early Intervention Specialist to ensure children with diversabilities and developmental needs receive individualized support across Head Start programs. You will collaborate with families, teachers, and local agencies to coordinate referrals, assessments, and transitions, guiding IEP/IFSP processes.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in a related field, knowledge of Head Start standards, and experience with special education services; CPR/First Aid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Early Intervention, Special Education, Child Development or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and Maryland OCC regulations; Head Start experience preferred.
• Experience supporting children with diversabilities, developmental delays, behavioral or mental health needs.
• Knowledge of IEPs, IFSPs, IDEA and related services; strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate diversability, early intervention, behavioral and mental health services for children and families.
• Support IEP/IFSP referrals, assessments, services, follow-up and transitions.
• Help families understand available services and advocate for their child’s needs.
• Partner with teachers to develop classroom accommodations and strategies.
• Coordinate with LEAs, Part B/Part C agencies and community partners.
• Monitor referrals, services, outcomes, documentation and program data.
• Ensure services meet Head Start, IDEA, ADA and Maryland OCC requirements.
