Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Family Services Advocate to support Head Start families through family partnership, parent engagement, and community collaboration. You will work to identify family goals, connect them with services, and promote participation in education and wellness activities.

You will collaborate with local partners to enhance service access, coordinate with Teaching Associates, and help families navigate resources such as housing, employment, and health services.

Qualifications

• Training related to social, human, or family services, Head Start experience preferred.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with children and parents.
• Basic computer literacy in email, word processing and internet navigation.
• Must pass a physical examination, background check, and fingerprinting screen.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain weekly contact with Teaching Associates to integrate Family Partnership Goals with classroom efforts.
• Plan and attend parent committee meetings and family activities.
• Assist families in transitions out of the Head Start Program.
• Provide crisis intervention for families as needed.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development.
