Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Teacher Assistant I for Early Head Start South LA to support children ages 2-3 with a structured, nurturing classroom. You will help implement the curriculum, assist with daily activities, and collaborate with a Co-Teacher and Family Advocate to connect families with resources.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 24 CD units in ECE/CD (including 6 infant/toddler units), and experience with children.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 24 CD units in ECE/CD, including 6 infant/toddler units.
• 3 Infant/Toddler units required at hire; total 6 units within a year.

Responsibilities

• Provide varied activities to promote social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.
• Plan curriculum for morning and afternoon classes (double sessions).
• Integrate HS services into learning (parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, mental health).
• Maintain children’s records and monthly paperwork with FA.
• Observe and assess developmental levels and set individual goals.
• Create a learning environment reflecting diverse backgrounds.
