Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is hiring a Teacher Assistant I for Early Head Start in North Hollywood. The role supports children ages 2-3 with developmentally appropriate activities and a focus on social competence in a Head Start setting.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 24 CD units in ECE/CD (6 infant/toddler units within a year), and clearances including fingerprinting and health verifications. E-Verify information provided where applicable.

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance, background checks and verifications required.
• TB clearance within 6 months prior.
• Influenza vaccination and immunizations as listed.
• Understand and support diverse early childhood development needs.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move in a busy classroom.
• High School Diploma or GED; 24 CD units in ECE/CD; 6 infant/toddler units required within a year.

Responsibilities

• Provide a varied environment to support social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.
• Implement the program curriculum for morning and afternoon classes.
• Plan activities, collaborate with Co-Teacher and Family Advocate.
• Integrate Head Start services into learning, including parent involvement and health services.
• Maintain records and submit monthly paperwork timely.
• Observe and assess developmental levels and set individual goals.
