Job summary

Smart Start of Forsyth County is seeking a Teaching and Learning Support Services Specialist to provide evidence-based coaching and professional development to early childhood educators. The role includes delivering CE/T, administering the lending library, and supporting classroom quality using CLASS and other assessment tools.

The position reports to the Manager of Early Education Support Services and supports facilities to improve readiness from birth to five, including trauma-informed

Qualifications

• Two to five years of verifiable leadership/education experience in early childhood.
• Minimum Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education; preferred Bachelor’s in related fields.
• CLASS Observer Reliability Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Must have NCICDP Level 11 Certification and Technical Assistance/PD Endorsements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teaching Strategies Gold; strong Outlook skills.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and IACET-aligned PD delivery.
• Understanding of quality assurance in educational contexts.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based coaching to childcare educators using a structured framework.
• Document coaching and progress with standardized protocols.
• Deliver continuing education, training, and professional development.
• Administer the SSFC lending library resources for providers.
• Support and assess classrooms using CLASS, ITERS/ECERS, POEMS, PAS.
• Collaborate with teachers and directors to improve classroom environments.
• Represent Smart Start in collaborations and community partnerships.
