Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory in Whittier, CA, is seeking a dedicated caregiver to assist in instructional and recreational activities and provide child care for infants to school-aged children.

Under Site Supervisor supervision, you will plan and supervise activities, monitor health and safety, maintain records, and collaborate with staff and families. A California Teacher Child Development Permit, a valid driver's license, and at least one year of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Teacher Child Development Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required.
• Valid California Driver's License is required.
• At least one year of experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise activities of the center.
• Provide for the health, safety and psychological needs of the children.
• Communicate positively and effectively with children, staff, parents and volunteers.
• Change diapers and provide hygienic care for the children.
• Cooperate in maintaining a positive, safe, and clean atmosphere.
• Keep a file and record each child's development and progress.
• Prepare and complete all assigned records and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
• Attend staff meetings, conferences and training as requested.
• Assist Site Supervisor as needed.
• All other related duties as assigned.
