Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a childcare associate to assist in instructional and recreational activities for infants to school-aged children. The role reports to the Site Supervisor of Children's programs and includes providing high-quality care and developmentally appropriate activities.

Responsibilities include planning activities, maintaining health and safety, and documenting each child's progress, with required first aid/CPR certification and background checks.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Hold and maintain a valid California Driver's license.
• Hold and maintain a Teacher Child Development Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
• High school diploma, equivalency degree or demonstration of equivalent skills.
• Current first aid and CPR certificates.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise activities of the center.
• Provide for the health, safety and psychological needs of the children.
• Communicate positively with children, staff, parents and volunteers.
• Change diapers and provide hygienic care for the children.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and clean atmosphere.
• Keep records of each child's development and progress.
• Prepare and complete all assigned records and reports.
• Attend staff meetings, conferences and training as requested.
• Assist Site Supervisor as needed.
• All other related duties as assigned.
