Job summary

Nelson Mandela Elementary School, INC is seeking an Early Childhood Paraprofessional to assist the Development Teacher in planning and implementing daily education for children. The role requires creating a developmentally appropriate program and supervising classroom activities under guidance from teachers and the director.

You will help develop lesson plans, observe and document child progress, and support social-emotional, physical, language, and cognitive growth.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and early childhood curricula.
• Ability to stay current with child development developments.
• Knowledge of state childcare licensing standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide opportunities for children to develop positive self-images and experience success.
• Assist in developing individualized educational plans for each child.
• Maintain an attractive, stimulating learning environment and support independent activity choice.
• Ensure children are supervised and receive safe, healthy classroom care.
• Assist in planning developmentally appropriate activities to support social, emotional, physical, language and cognitive development.
• Write anecdotal observations to measure and evaluate child progress.
• Encourage parent participation in program activities at home.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the job scope.
