Job summary

Republic R-III School District is seeking a 2026-27 Early Childhood Special Education Paraprofessional. The role supports the Preschool Lead Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate instruction and maintaining a safe, orderly classroom.

The paraprofessional will be responsible for following district policies, pursuing required continuing education credits, and assisting with student supervision, records, and communications with families.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 60 college hours, preferably in education or early childhood.
• Must meet district and state standards for child care regulation.
• Experience in early childhood education and understanding of developmentally appropriate practice.
• Strong communication skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Follow school and district rules and regulations.
• Maintain continuing education credits as prescribed by the district and health regulation bodies.
• Assist in classroom management to ensure a positive learning environment.
• Supervise students and maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with staff, students, parents, and community.
• Maintain professional conduct representing the school.
• Keep student files, inventory, financial records, and assessment data compliant with regulations.
• Attend meetings and participate in school activities, pursuing professional growth.
• Handle confidential information professionally.
• Maintain equipment and facilities and report needed repairs.
• Be punctual and responsible in attendance.
• Ensure all work is done professionally and with appropriate preparation.
• Prepare for the job and solve routine problems independently.
• Accept direction from Lead Teacher.
• Supervise students before, during, and after school as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director to Student Services
