USCG Base Cape Cod MWR is seeking a Child Care Assistant for the Cape May, NJ location. The role supports the Child Development Center with age-appropriate activities, guidance, and supervision of children, ensuring safety and daily reporting according to program standards.

You will assist with curriculum implementation, coordinate with staff and parents, and help create a positive learning environment while meeting background checks and fitness requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• One year of general experience working with children.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and work indoors/outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute age-appropriate early childhood activities.
• Supervise children in classrooms, on playgrounds and during meals.
• Support safety, health checks, and daily reporting; maintain child participation records.
