Job summary

USCG Base Cape Cod MWR in Washington DC is seeking a Child Care Assistant INT 6933 to support the Child Development Center. You will assist in planning age-appropriate activities, supervise children, and coordinate with staff and parents.

This intermittent position requires English proficiency, ability to lift up to 45 pounds, and background clearance. Applicants must meet minimum education and experience and pass health checks.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• One year of general experience working with children.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and move about indoors/outdoors.
• Able to satisfactorily complete Tier 1 background investigation and renew every 5 years.
• Able to pass Civilian Medical Clearance every two years for childcare roles.

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes early childhood education experiences with a variety of materials.
• Collaborates with the director and teachers to implement age-appropriate curriculum.
• Promotes positive interactions among children, youth and adults.
• Assists in providing and leading planned activities for program participants.
• Interacts professionally with staff, parents, and the command.
• Maintains program participation data and completes required daily reports.
